SIGN UP EARLY There is limited space in most all activities. It is important that you sign up early to insure your spot in the activity. On deadline day, if enrollment has not met the minimum number of participants, it will be cancelled. If you come in the next day we may not be offering the activity.

Are you looking for information about game or practice cancellations or maybe you need to know the upcoming deadlines. Simply call the main office at 623-2650. On bad weather days or after office hours you will get the after hours and inclement weather voice mail system.

PROGRAM UPDATES You can catch all the program information offered by the HRC several ways.
Radio
Listen each Wednesday at 7:40 am on KAYS and every other Tuesday at 8:30 am on KJLS. Here you will be able to learn more about the different activities coming up at the HRC. You can also join us on KAYS at 8:45 am on the first Monday of each month.
Newspaper Program updates are available through the HRC Calendar each Sunday in The Hays Daily News.
Phone You can call the HRC office after hours and press 3 for program information. The information hotline will provide you with upcoming deadlines.
Web You can go to www.haysrec.org to find out about upcoming deadlines and view the current list of upcoming programs.
E-mail Sign up for our bi-weekly e-mail. Thursdays provide you with the details of each activity, and Tuesdays is a quick reminder that tomorrow is the deadline.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Individuals interested in becoming involved in their community through volunteer work have numerous options through the Hays Recreation Commission. We offer youth sports such as softball, baseball, soccer, tennis and basketball. In addition, we offer programs such as life enrichment classes, day camps and other programs throughout the year.
For all of these programs we need coaches, scorekeepers, game officials, help with registration, supervision, and specialized instruction. Come be a part of our program. The benefits are endless.

YOUTH SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM The Hays Recreation Commission offers scholarship assistance for those who qualify. If you wish to apply for a scholarship, you may pick up an application at the HRC office. In order to be considered for a scholarship, an applicant must submit a completed application form. Please make sure to thoroughly complete the application form, (social security numbers, income information, signature with the date, etc.). All applications must be renewed each year beginning January 1st with updated income verification information in order to qualify for the program. All registrants must be approved for the scholarship program in advance of a class or activity in order to receive scholarship benefits. All participants must be registered into a class with payment submitted prior to the start date of a class or activity.
Scholarship Funding Funding for this program is made possible by private donations. If you are interested in contributing to the Youth Scholarship Program, please contact the HRC office. For a complete copy of our Youth Scholarship Policy, contact the HRC office.

RECREATIONAL EQUIPMENT
Recreational equipment may be checked out from the HRC office upon request. Equipment such as softball and baseball equipment may be reserved free of charge on a first come - first served basis.
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES The HRC is an Equal Opportunity Employer, which offers opportunities in all areas of recreation. Applications for program supervisors, umpires, referees, instructors, gym supervisors, scorekeepers, sports field maintenance and more are all being accepted at the HRC office.
