On the third Wednesday of every month, the Hays Recreation Commission will be offering a light/healthy breakfast for everyone interested in using our gyms as a walking track.  This program is a great way to get involved, stay active, and meet others who also walk in our gyms.

This is an assessment that has a Cardiovascular Endurance, Muscular Strength, and Flexibility Test which is used to measure your current fitness level. In addition, a 7 sight Skin Fold Test or Bio-impendence measurement is taken to calculate Body Mass Index (BMI). This complete analysis is also included in our Personal Training Packages. Senior Assessments’ are also available.
Fee:  $10.00

A Body Fat Analysis can be utilized to keep track of your progress or see where you are at prior to starting at our fitness facility. It consists of your body weight and height, or Body Mass Index (BMI), body fat percentage, and blood pressure. Please call to set up an appointment at 623-2658.

Come utilize our professional staff to help keep your goals in sight. On the 2nd Tuesday of every month, you can receive a FREE Fitness Assessment or Body Fat Analysis (by appointment only). This is a great way to keep track of your fitness progress. You must also be an active HRC Fitness Center member to be eligible for this. Have you had your blood pressure checked lately?  You can have your blood pressure checked monthly or weekly for FREE.  A personal card will be kept on file at the HRC Fitness Center.

Staying motivated to lose those extra pounds can be very challenging.  Let us help you by dropping in weekly to weigh-in. A personal weigh-in card will be started for you, and each week you will chart your progress toward your goal.  There is no charge!

Come exercise and feel at home with others your speed and your style. This is an hour-long time frame every weekday M-F from 9:00-10:00am. This segment of the day is reserved for our Senior and Adult participants who may feel out of place with the younger crowd. Come try our facility in a more welcoming environment. 

We are reaching out to our senior population in Hays and bringing the benefits of fitness to your residency. We travel to your retirement community once a month on Friday’s at 1:00pm, and lead you through a fun and easy to follow 30 minute exercise class. Let our instructors show you how keeping active can benefit everyone’s life, no matter what the age. You can also come participate in our Senior Sit n Be Fit Class, every Tuesday and Thursday at 1:00pm. Not for individual homes or private residency. Come use the HRC Gyms when it is too cold or wet to walk outdoors. Sign up for this program, keep track of your own mileage, and at 100 miles you will receive a t-shirt. To receive a t-shirt individuals must sign up for program, walk the HRC GYMS, and complete their 100 miles in one calendar year to be eligible. Times are available all day to walk, however the best time to walk is between 5:00am - 12:00pm Monday - Friday.  Check our web page or call the office to confirm open gym time. Walking distances:
Walk all 3 gyms - 9 laps = 1 mile
Walk Gym #1 & #2 - 12 laps = 1 mile

The Corporate Wellness and Health Incentive program we offer is a great way to keep your employees motivated, productive, and healthy throughout the work year. With a minimum of 5 participants you will receive a membership at discounted rate. You will also be entered automatically into our Corporate Wellness Challenge. Eat too much over Thanksgiving?  Feeling the need to work off some of those calories?  Come join HRC Fitness for our Black Friday Bootcamp.  This 60 minute boot camp will mix traditional callisthenic and body weight exercises with interval and strength training.  This will be an intense work out so that one can achieve maximum results, while having fun and working at your own pace.

This challenge will begin January 2, 2015, and is a great way to help you stay motivated this New Year, or even a great way to start living a healthier and active lifestyle. Let us help you along your journey to a healthier you.  You will be given a log book and keep track of daily wellness activities.  We will also incorporate weekly challenges to help you achieve your goals in all areas of wellness. There will be a drawing for a grand prize for participants who complete the log book and challenges. Rules and regulations will be announced prior to the CHASE starting.

Chair yoga is a slow and easy, but challenging work-out that accommodates people with physical limitation. It is easy on the joints, beginner-friendly, relaxing to follow, and fun. The movements are done seated or standing, supported by a chair, so that almost anybody can participate.

Ready to begin a New Year?  Have you wanted to start living a healthier lifestyle, but have no idea where to begin? We can HELP! Let the HRC Fitness staff set you in the right direction, with our New Year’s Bootcamp. This consists of a 60-minute class on Saturday mornings for eight weekends. This will help you to start to reach your fitness goals in a controlled, welcoming, and safe environment. We will use strength and body weight training in conjunction with interval training, for a healthy dose of fitness knowledge that you can take and use on your own.

The Hays Recreation Commission and Papa Murphy’s Take ‘n’ Bake Pizza invite you to come join the FUN at our third annual Challenge Run. This is a partner 2 mile race where the pair of participants are challenged along the way with both mental and physical tasks. Come take part in this event with a friend, spouse, or family member and see how FUN running and exercise can be. There will be three divisions: Co-ed, Men, and Woman. All participants will receive a T-Shirt and a post race drawing will take place for prizes.
