SHARE YOUR TALENTS
If you are interested in sharing a skill or talent with others, give us a call.  We are always looking for new activities and we need instructors for them.  The pay is competitive and it is a great way to meet and help people.  Call us today for more information on how you can be a part of sharing your talent with others.

THURSDAY NIGHT PITCH
Join us on Thursday nights for a fun evening of playing pitch.  This program will meet from 7:00 - 9:00pm at the Recreation Center in the Dale Allenbaugh Conference Room.  This program is open to anyone age 18 & older.

MONDAY NIGHT PINOCHLE
All you have to do is show up for a great night of Pinochle.  Bring your own partner or come alone and pair up with someone.  We will meet each Monday from 7:00 – 9:00pm at the Recreation Center in the Marcy Allenbaugh Conference Room.  Wal-Mart of Hays will provide the pop and Alterra Sterling House will provide the popcorn.  The HRC will provide the cards and other supplies.  You supply the FUN!!!  This program is open to anyone age 18 & older.  The program is free of charge although donations will be accepted each night to offset the cost of supplies and the supervisor.

REFUND POLICY
Your satisfaction is important to us.  Due to program costs, including instructors, supplies, and to help maintain our minimum numbers, we ask for your cooperation when requesting a refund or credit.

CLASSES
Our policy is to provide a full refund or credit, your choice, to anyone who gives us two (2) business days notification prior to the start of class.  Anything after the two (2) business days will not receive a refund/credit unless your spot can be filled.

FRIDAY EVENING DANCING
Come dance with us. We will have a variety of music for your favorite ballroom and social dances—waltz, swing, cha aha, fox trot and more. Maybe an occasional country or line dance. Bring a partner, bring some friends, or come to meet some new friends.

FREEZER MEAL WORKSHOP
Come to make 10 great freezer meals that will be quick and easy for those busy days!  We will get together with spices and shopping list (provided upon registration) and mix up some great meals for you to take home.  Once signed up I will contact you to order spices, sauces, and oils; then they will be ready for you the night of the workshop you will just have to go pick up the shopping list of meats and produce.

FUR-EVER FRIENDS: PUPPY COURSE
This class is for puppy’s ages 10 weeks to 6 months.  Handler must provide a copy of first round of shots.  There will need to be one handler per dog. In this class the puppies will learn socialization and a few of the basic obedience commands.  On week 4 of the class, the puppy will have fun with agility obstacles and will also receive a diploma.

FUR-EVER FRIENDS: BASIC OBEDIENCE COURSE
This class is for dog’s that are ages 6 months and up.  Handler must provide a copy of shots that include rabies and bordatella.  There will be one handler per dog.  In this class the handler will be trained to train their dog.  They will learn basic obedience which includes sit, down, sit-stay, and down-stay; leave it and how to walk on a leash.  A head collar or pinch collar is preferred for this class.  NO choke chains are allowed.  No flexi-leashes are allowed, prefer a 6-8 foot nylon leash (they will be dragging the leash around).  On week 6 of the class, the dogs will have fun with agility obstacles and will also receive a diploma.  If the handler is unsatisfied with the dog’s progression, they can retake the class for half price.

ADULT BALLET LESSONS
Come enjoy a dance class for adults.  This class is for the beginner as well as those who have taken lessons before.  Class attire is ballet leotard and tights or tight fitting (workout) clothes, and any soft soled dance shoe (ballet, jazz, etc.).

CITY LIGHTS SLEIGH RIDES
Join the family on a horse drawn hay rack ride as we see the streets of Hays light up. This year we are offering two nights to enjoy the lights with a new location. Enjoy hot chocolate, hot cider and cookies as well!  Bring your blankets and enjoy the cozy ride! Tickets on sale Monday, Nov. 3 - Friday, Dec. 12.

BASIC ARTISAN BREAD
A golden brown crust that's crisp yet chewy, a creamy white crumb with a distinctive taste and texture....Come learn this amazingly easy method for artisan-style homemade bread. We'll make boules (rounds), baguettes and pita bread. In this hands-on class you'll leave with a freshly baked loaf and a container of dough for four more. Bring a 10-12-cup lidded container that will fit comfortably in your fridge.

MEAL PREP FOR ONE
Do you find it hard to prepare healthy meals for just yourself?  If you answered yes, this is the class for you. This class will also show you hope to plan ahead so that you have healthy meals ready for the week!  You will receive recipes and sample some of the meals. Come hungry!

WIRE WRAPPING
Learn all about metal and practice wire working techniques. Learn the simple loop, the wire wrapped loop and the basics of earring construction.  The fee includes all materials, and the use of tools. Students will be able to choose from an assortment of beading kits for their earrings. All metal materials provided will be hypo-allergenic.

Tired of constantly buying, and feeding your family processed granola bars, treats, and other snacks? We will show you some healthy alternatives with nutritious ingredients so that you know you are giving your family healthy options. Samples will be available and you’ll take home a batch of your own!

MAKE AND TAKE HOLIDAY APPETIZER
CRANBERRY CHUTNEY BRIOCHE WREATH WITH BAKED BRIE
Tired of bringing the same old appetizer to your boss's holiday party? Want to impress your family and friends at the next special gathering? In this class we will make a festive centerpiece wreath with soft and buttery brioche rolls filled with zesty cranberry chutney surrounding baked Brie for dipping. Delicious and beautiful! Students will go home with a wreath ready to bake, decorate, and serve, plus extra brioche dough for another project. Bring your largest cookie sheet.

HOLIDAY BREAKFAST BREADS
CHOCOLATE CINNAMON BABKA AND CRANBERRY STREUSEL WREATH
Start off your holiday morning breakfast with delicious bread, made the night before and baked that morning. In this hands-on class we'll taste and make a Cranberry-Almond Breakfast Wreath and a Chocolate-Cinnamon Babka using enriched dough. Students will go home with shaped bread ready to bake in the morning, plus dough and filling to make the second at home. Please bring a cookie sheet, an 8-10 cup lidded container, and a 2-cup sealable container.

BATON TWIRLING CLASSES
Baton twirling classes will be offered to all ages. This class will teach individuals the fundamentals of twirling, giving participants an exciting new talent. Classes will be taught by Shelby Schumacher Director of the Hays Twirl Academy, former Hays High Feature Twirler, and current Fort Hays Company Twirler. We will supply batons that you can use during classes, if you which to purchase your own you can order through the instructor.

WALTZ
Waltz is a smooth dance characterized by long, flowing movements, continuous turns, and rise & fall. Graceful and elegant, Waltz dancers glide around the floor almost effortlessly. Picture Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.  A must for those looking for a smooth refined dance. Bring a partner, brings some friends, or come by yourself.

BAGELS
Did you know you can make your own bagels that taste infinitely better than those store-bought frozen hockey pucks! Using a two-stage method, we'll mix, knead and shape bagels that can be boiled, topped and baked the next morning in time for breakfast. In this hands-on class, you'll experience all steps of the bagel making process, taste various bagel types, mix up unique cream-cheese spreads, and leave with a half-dozen ready-to-cook bagels and a spread for your breakfast the next morning. Bring a cookie sheet and a 1-cup lidded container.

COUPONING 101
Do you currently pay for toothpaste, tooth brushes, shampoo/conditioner, air fresheners, candles, or snack foods?  Why, when you could get them for free or just pennies?  Couponing 101 will cover all the basics of using coupons to save money and even get things for free from local stores.  Topics will include where to get coupons, how to organize them for easy use, tricks of the trade, how to include rebates/refunds, and specific information about the stores you will find in the Hays area.

BASIC STRINGING NECKLACE
Create your very own unique and beautiful beaded jewelry. Students will learn to use one of the most simple and straight forward techniques to creative individual works of art. Learn about beads, findings, tools, and stringing materials. This course will also focus on design elements of creative beaded jewelry, such as bead pairing, color combinations and types of beads. You will make a necklace to take home. The fee includes all materials, the use of tools. Students will be able to choose from an assortment of beading kits for their bracelet.

CHALLAH AND OTHER CELEBRATION BREADS
Challah, the traditional bread of the Jewish Sabbath, is a lightly sweetened egg-bread, elaborately braided into a beautiful loaf, worthy of any celebration. In this class we will learn braiding techniques for four and more strands and flavor variations on the traditional dough.
Students will go home with a braided challah ready to bake, plus dough for a second project.
Please bring a cookie sheet.

CHA CHA
A very versatile Latin dance, the Cha Cha actually fits many modern pieces as well as the traditional songs.  So come learn this very energetic and fun dance. COED DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT
Get a team together or play with co-workers! Six players per team! Come out to the Hays Rec to dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge! Sign up at the HRC Office. Play will be bracket style, and winners will receive t-shirts and bragging rights!

SAVORY SMOOTHIES
Working towards becoming healthier? Use smoothies to help aid in this process, lots of nutrients can be hidden inside a smoothie and still taste great! Have fun and enjoy this cooking workshop that focuses on using fruits, vegetables and more to make summertime smoothies.

RUMBA
The rumba is a slow, sensuous, romantic dance with much flirtation.  This is a fun dance that is traditionally done to Latin music, but can also be danced to many pop and country style songs.  The slow Latin beat, the rhythmic body and hip action, and the interaction between partners make this a favorite with many dancers.  Come have fun, get some exercise, and meet some new friends. No experience needed. Bring a partner, bring some friends, or come by yourself.
