Your satisfaction is important to us.  Due to program costs, including instructors, supplies, and to help maintain our minimum numbers, we ask for your cooperation when requesting a refund or credit.

CLASSES
Our policy is to provide a full refund or credit, your choice, to anyone who gives us two (2) business day’s notification prior to the start of class.  Anything after the two (2) business days will not receive a refund/credit unless your spot can be filled.

SHARE YOUR TALENTS
If you are interested in sharing a skill or talent with others, give us a call.  We are always looking for new activities and we need instructors for them.  The pay is competitive and it is a great way to meet and help people.  Call us today for more information on how you can be a part of sharing your talent with others.

ON GOING ACTIVITIES - Join us for these great on going activities.

THURSDAY NIGHT PITCH
Join us on Thursday nights for a fun evening of playing pitch.  This program will meet from 7:00 - 9:00pm at the Recreation Center in the Dale Allenbaugh Conference Room.  This program is open to anyone age 18 & older.

MONDAY NIGHT PINOCHLE
All you have to do is show up for a great night of Pinochle.  Bring your own partner or come alone and pair up with someone.  We will meet each Monday from 7:00 – 9:00pm at the Recreation Center in the Marcy Allenbaugh Conference Room.  Wal-Mart of Hays will provide the pop and Brookdale Hays will provide the popcorn.  The HRC will provide the cards and other supplies.  You supply the FUN!!!  This program is open to anyone age 18 & older.  The program is free of charge although donations will be accepted each night to offset the cost of supplies and the supervisor.

PRIVATE SMALL GROUP DANCE
LESSONS
Looking for a more one-on-one or small group setting to practice your dance moves? We will now be offering small group dance lessons that can be tailored to fit your schedule and needs.  Style selections can be individualized whether you’re looking for cha cha, waltz, swing, salsa and more!

FUR-EVER FRIENDS: PUPPY COURSE
This class is for puppy’s ages 10 weeks to 6 months.  Handler must provide a copy of first round of shots.  There will need to be one handler per dog. In this class the puppies will learn socialization and a few of the basic obedience commands.  On week 4 of the class, the puppy will have fun with agility obstacles and will also receive a diploma.

FUR-EVER FRIENDS: BASIC OBEDIENCE COURSE
This class is for dog’s that are ages 6 months and up.  Handler must provide a copy of shots that include rabies and bordatella.  There will be one handler per dog.  In this class the handler will be trained to train their dog.  They will learn basic obedience which includes sit, down, sit-stay, and down-stay; leave it and how to walk on a leash.  A head collar or pinch collar is preferred for this class.  NO choke chains are allowed.  No flexi-leashes are allowed, prefer a 6-8 foot nylon leash (they will be dragging the leash around).  On week 6 of the class, the dogs will have fun with agility obstacles and will also receive a diploma.  If the handler is unsatisfied with the dog’s progression, they can retake the class for half price.

KNITTING
Learn the basic stitches of knitting during this class. You will learn how to make a dishcloth.  As a part of the fee each participants will receive a pair of knitting needles and yarn.

SOCIAL DANCE SAMPLER
It’s time to loosen up! Prepare to dance socially with fun and confidence by learning the basics of the Waltz, Foxtrot, Rumba, and Swing. Each week of class will focus on of the different type of ballroom dance, and participants will gain insight and have fun.

Let’s get messy with paint, glue, stencils, stamps, pens, and more. We will let the process take us to our creative side and learn to use art as a way to release tension and express emotion. Be prepared to get messy, and dress accordingly!

GIRLS NIGHT OUT I:
WINDOW FRAME PROJECT
In this first evening we will turn an old house window into a new piece of decor to compliment your home! You may choose to turn it into a chalkboard, a "clothesline" for cards and/or pictures, or even both! For this class you will need to bring a can of colored spray paint for the window frame, and enough newsprint to cover your work space and to cover the glass while painting.  Optional items: differently sized/shaped buttons, clothes pins and/or fake flowers to compliment your project.

PUFF PASTRYS
Puff pastry dough—delicate layers of pastry layered with butter—can be used for everything from elegant appetizers to delicious desserts. We’ll be making blitz puff pastry, a faster version of the classic, which far surpasses anything in the grocery store freezer section! Students will bake a puff pastry based appetizer and dessert in class, and mix a batch of the dough for another project at home. Bring two cookie sheets and a kitchen scale (if you own one).

GIRLS NIGHT OUT II: PICTURE FRAME(S) PROJECT
Tonight we will explore ways to decorate (or redecorate) a room inexpensively using items you may already have in your possession-- picture and photo frames! We will also briefly look at ways to use what you have in terms of baskets, shelves and even furniture to turn an "old" room into a brighter place to enjoy! Then we will spend the majority of our time up-scaling a couple old photo frames you can use in your home. For this class you will need to bring 2-3 used picture frames & spray paint (accent color for a room you'd like to enhance). Optional items: old cards or gift bags that may have pictures or sayings you like to frame.

TWISTS & SWIRLS: BEAUTIFUL BREADS OF FESTIVE OCCASIONS
Make beautiful bread for your holiday table. Using savory challah dough and a sweet babka dough, we’ll experiment with twisting and shaping techniques to make beautiful and delicious breads. We’ll taste-test Chocolate-Cinnamon Babka, Cherry-Almond Wreath, Sun-dried Tomato-Parmesan Fiesta Swirl and Cranberry-Walnut Blue Cheese Ring. Students will bake bread in class, and take home dough and filling for another to bake at home. Bring a 12-cup lidded container, a cookie sheet, and a digital food scale if you own one.

BLACK FOREST BIRCH BUCHE DE NOEL
Buche de Noel, the traditional Christmas dessert from France, is the perfect centerpiece for your holiday party table. In this Black Forest birch-log version, a moist chocolate genoise is filled with a rich white chocolate-cream cheese butter cream and kirsch-soaked cherries, shaped into a Yule log, frosted with white and chocolate ganache, and whimsically decorated with meringue mushrooms, chocolate leaves and bark, and chocolate almond acorns. We'll spend the first class preparing decorative elements and the second session making and finishing the cake. (The filled cake can be frozen for up to two weeks). Bring a large, shallow lidded container, a 4-cup lidded container, a cookie sheet, and a digital food scale if you own one.

In this third Girl's Night Out, we will create a tall WELCOME sign from fence boards and large wooden letters. Come ready to assemble a beautiful piece you can proudly display that will brighten up your front doorway! For this class you will need to bring 1 can outdoor spray paint (complimentary color for your front door area) or 1 bottle (4oz or larger) of water resistant craft glue. Optional items: 2-3 large fence hinges to elaborate the look of your project.

SCONES
Quick and easily prepared with numerous variations, scones are the perfect treat for a weekend brunch or afternoon tea. In this class we’ll learn techniques for tender scones, mix up and taste test several types of scone dough (basic cream, whole wheat, Scottish oat), and experiment with various add-ins (dried fruit, nuts, chocolate, cheese, fruit topping, etc). Students will go home with a dozen scones (two types). Bring a cookie sheet and a digital food scale if you own one.

TRAVELING ON A SHOE STRING BUDGET
Ever dream of traveling the world, but unsure how you will pay for the trip? Do you long to fill your passport with colorful stamps? In this class I will present strategies I have used and researched to purchase less expensive airline tickets, pay for lodging, and save money on meals and transport. You will learn of some resources you can use as you plan your next adventure, whether it be state-side or internationally! After all, one of the best educations a person can get is experiencing life around the world! Snacks will be provided, as well as optional resources for planning a future trip.

CROISSANTS
Is there any more luxurious treat than a croissant? Layers upon layers of flakey buttery dough, plain or filled, for breakfast, tea or luncheon, croissants can be mastered by the home baker with some time and patience. In this class we'll work our way through all the steps of croissant making as well as taste-test both sweet and savory variations. Students will leave with a batch of laminated dough and a half-dozen shaped croissants ready for baking at home. Experience with yeast doughs and a rolling pin recommended. Please bring a cookie sheet.

CONNECTING WITH AND PARENTING PRETEENS & TEENS…BY A FORMER MIDDLE SCHOOL TEACHER TURNED MOM
Have you been dreading your child becoming a teenager? Are you having a hard time connecting with your preteen or teenager? Have you noticed a drastic difference in the ways your child relates with you as they've moved through elementary school and neared or even entered middle school? There are a lot of changes (obviously!) that occur for kids passing through the "in between” years from child to adult, but as they transition we don't have to lose touch with them. We as parents can keep a connection with them, keep our love on and promote good communication lines in order for our preteens and teens know we love them and care for them through this often rocky feeling terrain of growing up. In this hour class I will present skills and strategies for developing a heart connection, healthy communication and putting your love on as you navigate the waters of parenting a preteen/teen. My goal is that you walk away encouraged and ready to apply a few new strategies that will improve and enhance your relationship with your child. Snacks provided.

BAGUETTES
Is there anything more classic than the French baguette? A crackly golden crust with an irregular holed crumb, a sweet toasty smell and a delicious earthy flavor are hallmarks of a great baguette. In this advance level baking class, we’ll go through all the steps—from mixing and kneading to shaping, scoring, steaming and baking. Several styles of dough will be presented, with lots of hands-on practice to master the art of forming baguettes. Students will go home with three baked baguettes, and dough to make three more. Bring a 12-cup lidded container, a cookie sheet, and a digital food scale (if you own one).

Come improve your photography skills. This class will cover composition, lighting, tone, color, and how to use your camera for framing beautiful shots! Please bring a camera to class (real cameras, no mobile devices with cameras).

MAKE A (PHOTO FRAME) CORSAGE: EVERLASTING FLORAL DESIGN
Attendees should have taken the Beginning Floral Design class previously. We will use those skills to assemble a two sided corsage perfect to wear and to decorate a photo frame. An assortment of materials and supplies will be available for your use and are included in the price of the class.  Additional items may be purchased at a discount if desired. This corsage would be a perfect Mother’s Day gift!
